Along the Sino - Burmese Border

This trip takes you to the China/Myanmar border to explore the area of the Awa Mountains inhabited by the Wa and Dai people. Due to the remoteness of the area, the traditions are well kept till today. Come and see it before it changes forever.

 

 

Itinerary

 

Day 1, Arrive in Kunming.

Day 2, Day trip to the Stone Forest.

Day 3, Fly to Lincang and drive to Cangyuan with visits to the Wa villages en route.

Day 4, Visit the three-thousand-year-old Cliff Paintings and the Wa Villages.

Day 5, Tour the Dai villages with their bamboo houses.

Day 6, Drive to Mengding via rainforests and Dai villages.

Day 7, Explore the area of Mengding.

Day 8, Drive to Menglou with visits to villages along the road.

Day 9, Drive to Ruili on Burma Border via Mangshi.

Day 10, Visit the thousand-year-old Leizhuangxia Temple, the Dai villages, Ruili River and market on the border.

Day 11, Fly to Kunming and end the tour.

This tour can be combined with the Water-splashing Festival of the Dai people in Mengding each year in April. Due to it’s remoteness, very few tourists come for the festival here.
