Itinerary
Day 1, Arrival in Kunming
Day 2, Drive to Stone Forest and visit the Stone Forest.
Day 3, Seven hours drive to Yuanyang via Kaiyun and Gejiu with visits to the villages on the way.
Day 4, Today we have a full day to visit the terraces belonging to the Hani and Yi people.These rice terraces - carved out of the mountainsides by generations of Hani people - are said to be amongst the most magnificent in the world. We get up early to see the sunrise over the terraces and visit the Hani and Yi people living there.
Day 5,We drive to Jianshui with a visit to the largest cave in Asia. There are usually thousands of swallows flying around and we can tour the caverns in dragon boats and visit the old part of Jianshui with its traditional architecture and market.
Day 6,Visit Tunshan village with hundred-year-old houses built by the family of Zhu in the countryside, and visit the Confucius Temple in town.
Day 7,Drive to Tonghai for an easy walk to Xiushan Mountain to visit the old temples with nice gardens, and visit a Mongolian village which moved here from Inner Mongal in 12th century together with Kublai Khan.Drive to the Lake Fuxian and relax.
Day 8,Drive to Kunming and fly to Guiyang
Day 9,Day trip to Huanggaoshu Waterfalls which the biggest in Asia and visit some Miao villages along the way.
Day 10,Two and half hours drive to Kaili to visit Kaili Museum and a local market.Another hour drive to Leishan and take a walk for a couple of hours through rice paddy fields and local Miao villages.
Day 11,Day trip to Xijiang to visit the biggest Miao village with more than one thousand families, have lunch with a local Miao family, walk around the village to look at the beautiful terraces near the village.Drive back to Baiyan village and take a walk for two and half hours walk in the terraces in a valley.
Day 12,Six hours drive to Zhenyuan via Shidong with visits to Miao villages along the way,hopefully to see a local market.
Day 13,Visit the ancient town of Zhenyuan by wandering in the old quarter to see the traditional houses built ages ago and visit Zhenyuan Museum, visit Dragon Cave which built with temples in different styles on a Cliff on the bank of Wuyang River in the morning, from here you can have a birds-eye view of the town. Half hour drive to Wuyang River and take a boat on the River to enjoy the dramatic landscape of the water and mountains.
Day 14,20 minutes drive from the town and take a five-hour walk in a mountain valley follow a stream to see the different vegetations of the mountain and vary landscape.To visit a place called Dragon Pool which the water comes out in a pool about 500 square meters, it’s blue and green with fogs on the surface, no one knows how deep it is.
Day 15,Drive to Shibing and take a raft in Shanmu River, the raft takes about three hours in the dramatic gorges with clean water which you can see fish in it. The raft start in May and ends up in early October.
Day 16,Six/seven hours drive back to Guiyang
Day 17,Fly home.

New Year of the Miao is celebrated for a week starts on Nov.10th. During celebration, people gather together in their best outfits to sing and dance, visit each other and enjoy delicious food. This is the most important festival of people, tens of thousands of people will attend. |
