Sanyuesan Festival of Dong

The festival falls on the 3rd of the 3rd Lunar Month and last for three days, this is a important festival of Dong people before the farming season start to express their good wishes for the harvest. It’s also a time for young people to look for friends and families to arrange marriages. During the festival, people will gather in Baojing village with the best costumes and silver wears to join the cerebrations. In the village square, local musicians play Lusheng in the middle while other dance in the circles around them. One dance after another, it lasts for hours until the dark.

 

Itinerary

Day 1, Arrival in Guiyang, check in at hotel, at leisure.

Day 2, Day trip to visit Huangguoshu Waterfalls which the biggest in Asia, visit an old Han Chinese village Tianlong.

Day 3, Drive to Leishan via Kaili to visit Kaili Museum to learn about the ethnic people of the area, visit Kaili old market, take a two hourswalk in the countryside through fields and Miao villages near Leishan.

Day 4, Visit Xijiang, the biggest Miao village in Guizhou lived more than a thousand families.

Day 5, Drive to Rongjiang with visits to local Miao villages along the way, visit Chejiang Dong villages.

Day 6, Drive to Liping and visit the area of Dong People.

Day 7, Visit Longli village built by Han Chinese 300 years ago.

Day 8, Drive to Jianhe and Bath in the hot springs

Day 9, Drive to Baojing to attend the Sanyuesan Festival of Dong people, drive to Zhenyuan

Day 10, Visit the old town of Zhenyuan, climb up to the mountain behind to view the area, visit Dragon's Cave Temples Wuyang River bank

Day 11, Day hike in Tiexi valley to visit the mystic dragon pool and see the vegetations of the valley

Day 12, Boat ride on Wuyang River, drive to Shibing take a walk on Mt.Yuntai.

Day 13, Drive to Guiyang, hotel and tour ends.
