China Yunnan tour highlights - Mekong River

The Mekong is one of the world's great rivers.From the Tibetan Plateau this river runs through China's Yunnan province, Burma, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Upstream of the river is a large number of glaciers and permanent snow. It flows fastly through the high mountains and deep valleys. In Yunnan province, it flows through Deqing,Nujiang,Lijiang,Dali,Baoshan,Lincang,Simao and Xishuangbanna. From Xishuangbanna it flow out of China.In Xishuangbanna the Dai ethnic people think the river multiplies a millions of elephants.

From ancient times to today, many ethnic people live on the both sides of The Mekong River.Bai and Pumi ethnic people live in Nujiang river basin.In Baoshan and  Lincang river basin, Yi,Bai,Naxi and Pumi ethnic people live at east coast of the river and Va and Bulang ethnic people live at west coast of the river.In Xishuangbanna,many Dai and Aini ethnic people live on plains and mountain areas of both sides of The Mekong River.
